Belmont Man Arrested For OUI After Throwing Beer Bottle from Car

An officer on patrol spotted the man toss the bottle while driving near Watertown Square.

A Belmont man faces OUI charges after an officer reportedly saw the driver throw a Sam Adams beer bottle from his car while he was stopped on Spring Street, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"The officer saw two motor vehicles stop at Spring and Summer streets," Lawn said. "He observed a glass bottle thrown from the vehicle and then the driver accelerated rapidly and speed away."

The officer pulled the car over at Common Street and Bellevue Road and identified the driver as Daniel J. Trainor of Belmont.

"When he approached the motor vehicle and detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath," Lawn said.

The officer performed field sobriety tests on Trainor, who was placed under arrest, Lawn said. The officer also found Trainor did not have a valid license.

Daniel Trainor, 26, of 534 Pleasant St. in Belmont, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and unlicensed driving.

Why does the Belmont man face charges if it is the officer who threw a Sam Adams beer bottle from his car?

Also, it seems that this time Sam Adams was not a good decision.

"officer reportedly saw the driver throw a Sam Adams " - "The officer saw two motor vehicles, He observed a glass bottle thrown from the vehicle," - I'm definately missing something here - where did either one of you see anything pertaining to an officer throwing a bottle out of his car?

David, I changed the story so it was clear the driver, not the officer threw the bottle.- Charlie Breitrose, editor.
