Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 26

A storm hitting today, a middle school movie and and senior exercises.

 
  1. A storm will hit Watertown today, and continue into Thursday. The amount of snow will depend when the precipitation turns into rain. The National Weather Service now predicts over 8 inches in the Boston area.
  2. Middle school students can see a movie at the Watertown Free Public Library today at 3 p.m. The movie will be the animated film "Despicable Me."
  3. Seniors looking to keep active can go to the Watertown Senior Center for the "New Year – New You!" class. The program includes muscle strengthening, light stretching,  and low impact aerobics, and is focused on the needs of seniors in a fun and safe environment. The class runs from 11 a.m. to noon, and costs $3 per class.
  4. The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in Town Hall. The board meets in the Council Chamber on the second floor.
  5. The New Repertory Theatre presents two productions of playwright Steve Yockey's play, "A Ghost Story." The show explores a young married couple as they come home to their empty beach house and batten down the hatches. When a giant wave comes crashing over them, they tumble into an alternate reality where both must confront the ghosts that haunt them and decide what their afterlife will be. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at the Arsenal Center for the Arts.
