Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 29

State Senate candidate forum, Senior Center trip to Foxwoods and subcommittee discusses snow shoveling rules.

 
  1. The Church of the Good Shepherd hosts a forum for the candidates for the Second Suffolk and Middlesex state senate seat: Jonathan Hecht, Will Brownsberger, Bob McCarthy and Tim Schofield. The event begins at 7 p.m.
  2. The Public Works Committee meets today at 5 p.m. to discuss a proposal to require residents to shovel snow from their sidewalks. The meeting will be in Town Hall.
  3. Seniors can join the trip to Foxwoods casino followed by a trip to the Cornerstone Playhouse for a production of "Holiday Cabaret." Tickets cost $51 and include $15 in food credit and a $10 Keno coupon. The bus leaves the Senior Center today at 8 a.m.
  4. Stellina Restaurant hosts local jazz musicians tonight from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There is no cover charge, and no reservations are needed.
  5. The Watertown Free Public Library invites you to bring your newborns and pre-walkers for Nursery Rhyme Time today at 9:30 a.m. There songs, fingerplays and more.
