Republican Congressional Race, Governor's Council Top Watertown Ballots in State Primary
Races for U.S. Senate, state representative and state senate are unopposed at the party level.
Watertown Republicans will be able to choose their candidate for the 5th Congressional District in today's State Primary, while lesser known posts take the spotlight on ballots for Democrats today.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and are open until 8 p.m. in Watertown. To find out where you vote, go to the Secretary of State's website here.
Three men want to become the GOP's challenger to long-time congressman Edward Markey. Frank Addivinola Jr. of Boston, Jeffrey Semon of Lexington and Tom Tierney of Framingham will be on the Republican ballot today.

The Republicans have other candidates, but who are running unopposed, including Scott Brown for Senate, Watertown's Steven Aylward for State Senate and Waltham's Francis Stanton for 10th Middlesex State Representative (only in precincts 10, 11 and 12).
Governor's Council
Watertown's Marilyn Petitto Devaney seeks reelection to her eighth term as Councilor for the Third District of the Governor's Council. The former Town Councilor faces two Democratic challengers, Newton's Charlie Shapiro and Brookline's Harry Margolis.
The Governor's Council gives advice on nominees put forward by the governor, including judges, clerk magistrates, the Parole Board, the Tax Appellate Board and others.
Register of Deeds Middlesex Southern District
Democrats have a crowded field of candidates to choose from in the Register of Deeds race. Three of the candidates hail from Somerville – Robert Antonelli, the former Middlesex County Register of Probate; Maria Curtatone, sister of the Somerville Mayor; Maryann Heuston, a Somerville Alderman. Former Newton Mayor Thomas Concannon Jr. is also running, along with Wakefield Selectman Tiziano Doto and Arlington Town Meeting member Frank J. Ciano.
Other Democrats on the ballot running unopposed are: Elizabeth Warren for Senate, Edward Markey for Congress, Belmont's Will Brownsberger for State Senate, Jonathan Hecht for 29th Middlesex State Representative (precincts 1-9), John Lawn for 10th Middlesex State Representative (precincts 10-12), Peter Koutoujian for Middlesex Sheriff, and Michael Sullivan for Middlesex Clerk of Courts.

Frank Addivinola is running for U.S. Representative in Massachusetts 5th Congressional District, the seat being currently occupied by Ed Markey. He was born and raised in Malden, MA and graduated from Williams College. He earned his ALM (Master of Liberal Arts) from the Harvard Extension School, MBA & MS from the University of Maryland and MS in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University. For six years, Frank worked and taught in biomedical research as a doctoral candidate and fellow in Molecular and Cell Biology with dissertation advisor Nobel laureate Marshall Nirenberg at the National Institutes of Health. He graduated from Suffolk University Law School where he received his JD and then Master of Laws in Biomedicine and Health Law. Since graduating from Williams, and continuously during his career, Frank owned and operated several businesses.
