Mount Auburn Hospital Kicking Off 2 Free Programs

The hospital offers multi-week workshops for those with diabetes and for people concerned about falling.

 

Mount Auburn Hospital will kick off two free programs soon, one for those with diabetes and another for those hoping to avoid a fall.

Thesix-week program on Diabetes Self-Management is for adults living with the condition who want to learn more about disease complications, healthy eating, exercise choices, medication and dealing with stress.

The program begins on Feb. 25 and meets from 1 p.m to 3:30 p.m. at the hospital, 330 Mount Auburn St. in Cambridge.

On March 1, the hospital starts the "A Matter of Balance" program learn how to manage concerns about falling and increase activity levels. Those in the program will learn strategies to manage falls and make changes in their lives that will reduce fall risks at home. They will also get tips on exercising to increase strength, flexibility and endurance.

The program meets once a week on Fridays from 9:30 am. to 11:30 a.m. at Mount Auburn Healthcare in Waltham, 355 Waverly Oaks Road.
