POLL: Does Watertown Need a Dog Park?
A group of Watertown dog lovers has started an effort to bring a dog park to town, but one of the questions is where would it go.

The Watertown Dog Park Task Force met for the first time Wednesday. The group of residents hopes to build a place to take their pooches and let them run and play.
The town is not overflowing with open space, and many of the public parks are not that large Filippello Park and Arsenal Park have some of the larger fields in town. Most of the rest of the parks are no bigger than a soccer field.
Also, dog parks can have a hefty price tag. Arlington's Thorndike Dog Park cost $200,000, and organizers held a fundraiser to offset the cost. The Peters Dog Park in Boston's South End cost $300,000, and supporters raised more than $130,000 for the project.
Newton has six off-leash areas, but users need to buy a permit - $50 for Newton residents, $100 for non-residents.

Brookline has a similar program.
The Brown School Playground field was considered to be one of the candidates for a dog park.

That's right. The field behind the new police station. They are in the process of remodeling it.

The playground behind the old police station would be great! How about How Park at the intersection between Beacon and Pleasant? It also has the benefit of being right on the path around the river. It is also mostly fenced already and not a sports field currently (big slope on part of it).
