Veterans Day in Watertown

Town officials will hold a ceremony at the VFW Post. Town offices, schools closed for the holiday.

 

Watertown will honor its veterans Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1105, at 295 Arsenal St.

The event will include reflections from state Rep. Jonathan Hecht, Town Council President Mark Sideris and Governor's Council member Marilyn Devaney, according to Veterans Service Officer Bob Erickson.

There will be a gathering after the ceremony at the VFW.

Being Veterans Day, town offices will be closed Thursday. Also closed for the holiday are the Watertown Public Schools and the Watertown Free Public Library.

Banks and the U.S. Post Office will be closed on Thursday.

Retail stores, including liquor and convenience stores, are generally open on Veterans Day. Restaurants and bars will also be open.
