Watertown Community Foundation Hires Riverfront Coordinator

Jennifer Ross will help coordinate events and program involving the Charles River.

The Watertown Community Foundation made the following announcement:

The Watertown Community Foundation (WCF) has selected Jennifer Ross as its new Riverfront Coordinator.

In announcing the selection, WCF Executive Director, Michael Schade stated, “With Jennifer’s dedication to community improvement, collaboration and philanthropy, we are confident she is the right person to spearhead WCF’s ongoing riverfront endeavors. Jennifer’s masters  degree in public policy, her interest in nature and the environment as an outdoor adventurer, and her previous experience coordinating nonprofit projects and volunteers will serve her well in the Riverfront Coordinator position.”

Ross was the recipient of a Grant Burton Fellowship as well as a Sillerman Fellowship at The Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University, where she recently completed her Masters in Public Policy with a concentration in children, youth and families.

Ross commented, “I am very excited to have this opportunity to work with a variety of Watertown residents, groups and nonprofits to increase people’s use and enjoyment of the riverfront, and to support efforts to make improvements to this special part of the town.”

In 2008, the Watertown Community Foundation organized the Friends of the Watertown Riverfront (FOTWR), in cooperation with State Rep. Jonathan Hecht, the Solomon Fund, the Bilezikian Family Foundation, several Watertown Town Councilors, Perkins School for the Blind, the Watertown Conservation Commission, the Charles River Conservancy and many interested Watertown residents. The FOTWR has periodic meetings and riverfront cleanup events.

The Watertown Riverfront Coordinator is a part-time position with a stipend provided by a grant from the Bilezikian Family Foundation.
