Watertown Company Receives $3 million in Federal Grants

Radiation Monitoring Devices Inc. will get three $1 million grants from the Federal Department of Energy.

Watertown's Radiation Monitoring Devices Inc. – RMD – will receive a share of the $102 million in grants recently awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

The company, located at 44 Hunt Street in Watertown, will received three $1 million grants from the government, according to a report in the Boston Globe.

RMD, which is part of Dynasil, works on imaging devices for medical, homeland security and industrial uses. Some of the technologies it works on include high-resolution sensors for hard X-ray micro tomography, which could be used to improve medical imaging, scanning equipment at airports, and small animal research.

RMD was one of seven Massachusetts companies to get the grants, according to the Globe. Other local companies include Billerica-based Aerodyne Research Inc., Boston-based Conispire, Marlborough-based Aspen Products Group Inc., Natick-based Capesym Inc., Sturbridge-based Nova Scientific Inc., and Tyngsborough-based Beacon Power Corp.
