Watertown Police Log: Jan. 2 to Jan. 8
Downspouts stolen from Mt. Auburn Cemetery, fraudulent check cashed and man attacked walking into Tedeschi.
The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Jan. 3, 10:15 p.m.: Police were called to Piermont Street for a domestic disturbance, Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn said. Yama N. Cheshatsang, 46, of 48 Piermont St., was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
Jan. 4, 1:25 a.m.: Police were called to Marion Road for a domestic disturbance, Lawn said. David B. Callahan, 60, of 49 Marion Road, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and intimidating a witness, for taking the phone away from the victim.
Jan. 4, 12:12 p.m.: New Bedford Police served a warrant on a Rochester, Mass. home and arrested a man wanted for charges in Watertown, Lawn said. Jonathan P. Deprospo, 27, of 17 Wordell St. in Rochester, Mass., was arrested on a default warrant from Waltham District Court.
Jan. 5, 12:18 p.m.: An officer on patrol stopped a 1994 Toyota and discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant, Lawn said. Cheryl Ann Lynch, 52, of 55 Dartmouth St. in Belmont, was arrested on a warrant from Waltham District Court for traffic offenses.
Jan. 5, 7:28 p.m.: Police were called to Watertown Street for a domestic disturbance, Lawn said. Craig G. Killilea, 42, of 50 Watertown St. Apt. 206 in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
Jan. 8, 1:05 p.m.: Police were called to Belmont Street for an unwanted man at a home, Lawn said. Police came to the area and spotted a man walking down the street and identified him as Benson S. Brutus, who had an outstanding warrant. Brutus, 44, of 1066 Belmont St. in Watertown, was arrested on a warrant from Waltham District Court for domestic assault and battery.
Jan. 2, 5:44 p.m.: A check was stolen from Adams Clinical Trials on Mt. Auburn Street and was fraudulently cashed for $200, Lawn said. Police are investigating.
Jan. 3, 8:29 a.m.: Someone ripped nine copper downspouts off the Mt. Auburn Cemetery offices and stole them, Lawn said. They are worth a total of $5,000.
Jan. 4, 9:52 a.m.: A worker at the United Cerebral Palsy office on Main Street reported that someone took a $100 bill out of her wallet, which was left in the office, Lawn said.
Jan. 4, 2:19 p.m.: The owner of a 1999 Land Rover reported that someone poked four holes in the rear tire of the vehicle while it was parked on Norsman Avenue, Lawn said.
Jan. 5, 6:03 p.m.: A package ordered from Lands End was reported stolen from a home on Copeland Street, Lawn said.
Jan. 6, 10:25 a.m.: A Main Street resident reported that a book ordered online was delivered on Dec. 24, but it was taken from the lobby of the apartment building, Lawn said.
Jan. 8, 2:08 p.m.: A rock was thrown through the window on the second story of the Sons of Italy hall on Pleasant Street, Lawn said.
Jan. 8, 6:40 p.m.: A man was walking into Tedeschi Market on Main Stret at 2 a.m. when a man came up and punched him in the face, Lawn said. The suspect, described as a black male, age 16 or 17, was last seen fleeing toward Watertown Square.
