"Great Escape" is a weekly column highlighting one great idea to make parents' lives easier or give them a much-deserved break.
With children your time is limited but it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to limit your dinner excursions to the boundaries of Watertown. For a limited time Arlington’s upscale restaurant Tryst, 689 Massachusetts Ave., owned and run by Chef  Paul Turano is offering gastronomic delights that won’t eat away at little Jenny’s college fund. “Return to the Table” menu offers a variety of American classic comforts like mac & cheese with country ham and peas, tender pork ribs with homemade slaw and mashed potatoes. The menu also includes European imports like tagliatelle bolognese and fish & chips…

Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school Saturday. The grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie Sunday afternoon. Your tweens take tap on Wednesday evening.  It’s your time. Take it. Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.  I don't know about you, but I have a horrible case of cabin fever. So, I need to bust out of the house this spring and I'm going to start with a trip to Gore Place on Gore Road. It's a great way to immerse yourself in another world and…
Mom’s in waiting take the stress of your back at the Tranquility Day Spa, 15 Spring Street, Watetown. The Pregnancy Massage according to the spa’s Web site can “reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.” If you are already chasing after a little one waiting for the next to arrive, this relaxing rub can bring you the serenity you’ve been craving before the “baby stork” arrives. Visit the spa's Web site for further info: www.watertownspa.com/Massage/MaternityMassage_About.html.
One of my favorite escapes in Watertown is to take a nice brisk walk, or snow shoe along the new bike path in the morning. It was exciting to watch as they planted new shrubs, installed benches, and posed new signs last fall. It is also a great way to get in and out of the mall when I need to pick up a few things. I love to add some fun to my walk and take a turn over to 71 Arlington St. to Lilly’s for a nice cup of coffee and pastry. They have such an amazing selection! My family’s favorites are the red velvet cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies and the mouth-watering cream puffs. They take …

Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier. Enjoy Great Escape. If you can get out of the house before the corporate crew hits the roads, make your way down to Chestnut Hill. Aquitaine Bis’ 3-course meal “Beat The Rush” will reward you for your early efforts. Located on 11 Boylston Street, this restaurant is the creation of Boston native Matthew Burns and former Wall Street suit turned renowned chef Seth Woods.
