What You Should Know About Tuesday's Watertown Election

The Town Election is Tuesday, with races for Town Council President, Town Coucilor-at-large and School Committee.

After weeks of campaigning, voters will go to the polls on Tuesday for the Watertown Town Election.

Voting

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Here are the polling locations:
  • Precinct 1: Hellenic Cultural Center, 25 Bigelow Ave.
  • Precinct 2: Hosmer School, 1 Concord Road
  • Precinct 3: Hellenic Cultural Center, 25 Bigelow Ave.
  • Precinct 4: Phillips School, 30 Common St.
  • Precinct 5: Phillips School, 30 Common St.
  • Precinct 6: Hibernian Hall, 151 Watertown St.
  • Precinct 7: Lowell School, 175 Orchard St.
  • Precinct 8: Watertown Middle School, 68 Waverley Ave.
  • Precinct 9: Watertown Middle School, 68 Waverley Ave.
  • Precinct 10: Watertown Police Station, 552 Main St.
  • Precinct 11: Cunniff School, 246 Warren St.
  • Precinct 12: Cunniff School, 246 Warren St.

The Races

Town Council President Mark Sideris is being challenged by former Council President Clyde Younger. See where they stand on some issues facing the town from this story from the League of Women Voters debate. Vote for one candidate. See the candidates debate from the Apartments at Coolidge School.

The race for Town Councilor-at-large is crowded, with four incumbents and three active challengers. Those running for reelection are Susan Falkoff, Tony Palomba, Steve Corbett and John Donohue. Challenging them are Michael Dattoli, Aaron Dushku, and Paul Fahey. Colin Wehrung's name is on the ballot but he has not been actively campaigning. School Committee also has an active race, with six people running. John Portz is the lone incumbent, and the challengers are David Stokes, Elizabeth Yusem, Andrew Swan, Guido Guidotti and Dmitry Lev. The candidates debated at the Watertown Education Foundation forum, and at the League of Women Voters debate. Vote for three candidates.

Election Night

Results will start coming in sometime after polls close at 8 p.m. Follow Patch's Twitter account - @WatertownPatch - to follow the votes as they come in. 

You can also watch Watertown Cable broadcasting live from Town Hall. Pam Piantadosi and Bob Kaprelian will speak to candidates and wait for results. The co-hosts extend an invitation to all candidates to come down and appear on their broadcast, Piantadosi said. 

The Town Council President candidates invite their supports to join them on election night. Younger will be at Not Your Average Joe's and Sideris will be at The Talk Restaurant
