2013 Horizons Core Values Award Recipient

On behalf of Horizons for Homeless Children, Watertown Resident Steve Theer was honored for his tireless work and dedication in young helping homeless children and their families at Horizons’ Annual Recognition & Awards Dinner.

With family homelessness on the rise (one in every 45 children in the United States is homeless each year) there is an ongoing need for organizations and volunteers to help these families.  The Horizons Playspace Program ensures that children living in family homeless shelters in Massachusetts have the opportunity for developmentally appropriate play.  The volunteers (also known as PALs) and staff members, such as Steve, are passionate and committed towards young homeless children and the program relies on them tremendously.  Every week, their outstanding efforts help provide Horizons the services for thousands of homeless children and their families.

Steve has been passionate about his job as Information Technology Manager since 2008 and ensures that the Horizons’ staff is equipped with the technology necessary to effectively do their work.  He believes deeply in the mission of the organization and strives to ensure that Horizons’ technological infrastructure is running smoothly so that their time, energy and resources can be devoted to serving Horizons’ children and families.   Steve was given the Core Values Award for Teamwork due to his cheerful demeanor and unending patience.
