Albin J. Turowsky, 96, formerly of Watertown, MA

Albin J. Turowsky of Montrose, NY, formerly of Watertown, MA, passed away on January 10, 2014 at age 96. He was born to Joseph and Petronella Turowsky on July 8, 1917 in Cambridge, MA and married his wife Helen (Lipinsky) on October 12, 1940. Albin attended Cambridge High and Latin School and served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was a World War II Army Veteran who participated in the Normandy Invasion. He retired from American Biltrite and enjoyed spending summers at his cottage in Littleton, MA. Albin was a proud member of the Lithuanian American Club of Cambridge, MA and a parishioner at St. Luke’s Parish in Belmont, MA. Albin was a lifelong Red Sox fan. Albin is survived by his caring daughter Rhona Hiney (Robert), cherished granddaughters Lisa St. Onge (Troy), Katie Ross (David) and Kerry Cooley (Glenn), adored great grandchildren Lauren, David, Brendan, Patrick, Madelyn and Ayden, and many loved nieces and nephews. Albin is predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years Helen Turowsky. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2-6pm at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 14th, 10am at Holy Name of Mary Church, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Burial will take place the following day, Wednesday, January 15th, 2014 St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown, MA at 12 noon.
