Belmont Savings Sponsors Annual Watertown Education Foundation Spelling Bee

Belmont Savings Bank will sponsor the Watertown Education Foundation's (WEF) Annual Youth Spelling Bee on Sunday, January 26 beginning at 10 a.m. at Watertown Middle School. This year marks the 4th anniversary of the community event.

Teams of first through fifth grade students will show off their spelling skills during this fun-filled day.  Members of the winning team from each grade will receive Belmont Savings Bank passbooks each with a $50 deposit.

"Partnering with the Watertown Education Foundation for this new, great annual tradition is an absolute delight," said Bob Mahoney, president and CEO of Belmont Savings Bank. "We are proud to collaborate with the Watertown Education Foundation to provide Watertown Education Rewards Checking, which is a best-in-market checking account that rewards our customers as well as the Watertown Education Foundation with $50 each for every new account opened.”

Belmont Savings Bank staff will be on hand at the event, and encourage parents and children to stop by the Bank’s table.  Information about the Watertown Education Rewards Checking account as well as the Belmont Savings’ prize wheel will be featured. Prizes include piggy banks, highlighters, water bottles and balls. Additionally, visitors can enter to win a Bose Sound Link speaker, courtesy of Belmont Savings.

Belmont Savings will also present a $6,500 check to the Watertown Education Foundation as a result of the many Watertown Education Rewards accounts that have been opened at Belmont Savings Bank in the last year.  This donation to the WEF will be used to purchase new Chrome Books for the Watertown Middle School.

The Watertown Education Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that engages the community in supporting excellence and enrichment in the Watertown Public School System. Since 2011, the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation has given nearly $5,500 to the Watertown Education Foundation.

Watertown Education Rewards Checking is a unique checking account created in support of the Watertown Public Schools. For each new account that is opened at Belmont Savings Bank, the WEF receives $50 and the account holder receives $50. In addition, the WEF earns .25% on all account balances.
