Tufts Medical Center Call for Nominations for the Second Annual Cam Neely Award for Courage

Tufts Medical Center announced today that it will begin accepting nominations for the Cam Neely Award for Courage, which will be given at the 2014 Working Wonders benefit evening in March. The Cam Neely Award for Courage honors an outstanding individual affiliated with Tufts Medical Center or Floating Hospital for Children who suffered with a serious disease such as cancer or a caregiver who has selflessly provided comfort to those with such illnesses.

"Tufts Medical Center is pleased to accept public nominations for the Cam Neely Award for Courage," said Dr. Michael Wagner, Interim President and CEO of Tufts Medical Center. "Last year Nick Claudio, a young cancer patient at Floating Hospital received the award. He had overcome adversity despite suffering a rare brain cancer and is an inspiration to all of us. We look forward to presenting the award to another courageous individual again this year."

The Cam Neely Award for Courage is named for the NHL Hall of Famer, President of the Boston Bruins and Founder of The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care. The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care was launched in 1995 in memory of Cam Neely's parents, Michael and Marlene, both of whom lost their battles with cancer. The Neely House was established in 1997 as a home away from home for the families of cancer patients. Cam Neely has also promoted the importance of cancer treatment and research by funding numerous clinics and treatment centers within Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children.
