5 Things: Prepare for the SATs

Events in Watertown.

1. High School sophomores and juniors, prepare for the fall SAT by taking a comprehensive six-week class taught by Watertown High School teachers. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays for six weeks, from July 9 to Aug.16, from 9 a.m. to noon at Watertown High School. This class will teach you the academic skills and test-taking strategies you need to conquer the SAT. It's $295 for the course includes books, flashcards, and practice tests. To register, head over to Watertown Community Education at 50 Columbia St. Questions? 2. Exercise classes at the Watertown Senior Center, 31 Marshall St., from 11 a.m. to noon. The classes focus on the particular needs of seniors in a fun, safe environment. Exercises include muscle strengthening, light stretching, balance and posture improvement, and low-impact aerobics; all done to your favorite tunes.

3. The Lunch Bunch Book Club at the Watertown Free Public Library at noon will be discussing "Diary of a Worm" from the Watertown Public School summer reading list for first graders. Discuss the book with pizza included. You have to register; call 617-972-6431.

4. It's Movie Monday at the Watertown Free Public Library where they show a recent blockbuster film up on our big screen at 6:30 p.m. Call ahead to our Reference Desk at 617-972-6436 to learn the movie title. 

5. On this day in 1889, the first issue of The Wall Street Journal is published.
