9-Year Old Watertown Boy Honored for Mentoring Pediatric Cancer Patients

Last week, Team IMPACT hosted their inaugural fundraising event, “Game Day Gala,” at The Westin Boston Waterfront with over 600 supporters. The evening’s roster included event co-chairs – and Team IMPACT founding members – Jay Calnan (Chief Executive Officer, J. Calnan & Associates) and Dan Kraft (Executive Vice President, The Kraft Group) who joined forces with ESPN’s legendary college basketball analyst, Dick Vitale, and ESPN’s popular football reporter, Wendi Nix, in this unforgettable night-with-a-cause that benefitted the organization’s mission to pair children who are facing adverse health issues with vibrant, team-based collegiate support networks. Nix served as the evening’s emcee and Vitale wowed the crowd as special guest speaker with a customized rendition of his infamous speech, “The Game of Life.”

Nine-year-old Ario Nour, a Watertown resident and Team IMPACT participant who was drafted onto the Northeastern University Men’s hockey team, was present. Ario was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the summer of 2011 and subsequently underwent a ten hour surgery before eventually resuming his regular activities. He now serves as a mentor to pediatric cancer patients at Massachusetts General Hospital.
