Fans Celebrate Red Sox World Series, Pay Tribute to Marathon Bombing Victims

This World Series had special meaning for many after the April tragedies.

The Red Sox wrapped up their third World Series win in a decade late Wednesday and along with thanking their teammates, coaches and fans, players also paid tribute to the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings.

The bombing took place in the early days of the 2013 baseball season, and the team seemed to use the Boston Strong spirit inspiration.

Several players - including David Ortiz and Shane Victorino - referenced the Boston Marathon Bombings and paid tribute to the victims after the game.

Fans also Tweeted about it, and included Watertown in their messages - such as this one from @JoyR16:

"Thank you #BostonStrong #RedSox. So grateful for dose of "healing joy" for our Boston area. #Cardinals #Watertown #worldchamps"

Championship gear was available right after the game ended. The Sports Authority at the Arsenal Mall opened right after the game so revelers could celebrate wearing their World Series Champs shirts.

Where does this World Series rank with the other Red Sox titles? How did you celebrate? Did you rush out to buy your Red Box championship gear? Let us know in the comments section.
