Friends Raising Money to Help Watertown Native, Her Family After Cancer Diagnosis

Andrea Faherty learned recently she has terminal liver cancer, and friends are trying to raise money to help her and her two boys.

Friends and family of Watertown native Andrea Faherty Soloman have rallied around her after she learned that she has late stage liver cancer. They have started a fund-raising drive to raise money for the single mother and her two boys.

The diagnosis came on quickly, with a clean physical one month and a few months later she learned she had Stage 4 metastic liver cancer.

The chemo and pain from the cancer has left Faherty unable to work, said friend and Watertown resident Christine Woodbury. A group started a drive on GiveForward.com to raise money for Faherty and her family, who now live in Methuen.

In the request for donations for Faherty on GiveForward.com, her friends wrote:

I hope that, like us, that after you get through the utter shock of such a diagnosis, you'd want to do something to help. NO ONE should be worrying about utility bills, housing costs and medical expenses when they are fighting to just spend another year with her two young children. Any amount is gratefully accepted. We thank you for reading our plea.
