See the Top Stories in Watertown for 2013

You can guess the top story of the year, but see what other ones made the top 5.

Watertown seemed to have non-stop big stories this year, including the big one that made the town the focus of national, and even international news.

While the capture of the Boston Marathon Bombing suspects dominated the biggest stories of the year, other notable stories made the headlines of Watertown Patch. These are a mix of the most read, those that had the biggest impact on town and notable accomplishments.

In reverse order:

5. Field hockey seemingly makes the headlines every year in Watertown, but this year the Raiders had some special accomplishments, including breaking the state record unbeaten streak, which helped earn Watertown Field Hockey Coach Eileen Donahue the National Coach of the Year award. Also, Watertown won its fifth straight state title.

4. Watertown's VOWS Bridal Outlet got national notoriety when it became the focus of TLC's "I Found the Gown" reality show. Read more here

3. In February, a three alarm fire gutted a block of businesses on Main Street in Watertown. Firefighters had to deal with a small explosion and a collapsed ceiling along with the flames. See more here.  

2. Two of the largest parcels in Watertown were sold this year, in moves that will change the look of the westside of town. The Arsenal on the Charles was sold from Harvard University to one of the occupants - athenahealth. Just down the street, the Arsenal Mall was sold to developers from Boston, as well as Jonathan Bush, the CEO of athenahealth.

1. By far the biggest story in town this year was the shootout between Watertown Police on April 19 and the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, and the subsequent capture of the second suspect in the boat on Franklin Street.
