Watertown Friendly's Offering Free Ice Cream to Celebrate New Look

Celebration event will include activities for kids. Money will be donated to Boys and Girls Club.

Watertown’s Friendly’s Restaurant will show off its new look and refreshed menu by giving out free ice cream on Aug. 29.

Steve Magoon, Watertown’s director of Planning and Economic Development and Watertown Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Renee Gaudette will be at the celebration along with Friendly’s CEO John Maguire.

The celebration runs from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and begins with free sundae cups for customers for the first hour. At 3:30, Maguire and Magoon will off the first scoop to Friendly’s fans at the event.

Children can get a balloon animal and have their face painted at the event.

If you can’t make the celebration, Friendly’s will offer sundae cups for $1 through Sept. 11. The restaurant will donate $1 to the Watertown Boys & Girls Club for each ice cream dessert purchased through
