Who's the Best Baker in Watertown?
Watertown bakers entered their best apple pie at the Faire on the Square.
Watertown bakers whipped up their best apple pie for the Faire on the Square's contest.
Eight bakers entered this year’s contest with their prized-recipe apple pies, and some pies arrived to the event hot – just out of the oven, according to organizers.
The apple of the judges’ eye were:
- First prize winner: Renee Landers
- Second prize winners: Lenwood King and Nancy Shelton
- Third prize winner: Erin Derry
The event was organized and hosted by Louise Civetti, Irene Frain, Ingrid Marchesano and Jeanne O’Connell.
The judges lucky enough to try all the pies were Veterans Randy Kenny, Rick Evans and Bob Kapreilian. The bakers names were not included on the pies to insure impartiality of the judges.
The pies were judged by two categories: appearance and, of course, taste.
Participants and spectators shared samples of the pies at the conclusion of the competition. All entrants went home with a new hot mitt for their creative efforts.
