Watertown Artist's Show at The Gallery at Sasaki Celebrates the Intersection of Nature, Architecture

Laura Segal's "Vernal + Barrenseries" opens on Oct. 11 at the gallery on Pleasant Street.

On Oct. 11, local artist, Laura Segal, opens an exhibition of new paintings from her "Vernal + Barrenseries," at The Gallery at Sasaki in Watertown.

A Watertown resident, Segal’s art is nature-based, process-driven, abstract painting. With a background in architecture, Segal explores the intersection between our built world and the natural world, and the structure that results from the collision of these forces.  Her sublime, glowing images draw the viewer deep into the paintings.

Segal serves as Chair of the Watertown Cultural Council, sits on the Board of Directors of the Arsenal Center for the Arts, and is active in fundraising and enrichment programming for the Watertown Public Schools. Segal holds a B.A. from Skidmore College, and a Master in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

The artist will be at the gallery’s opening reception on Thursday, Oct. 11, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Gallery at Sasaki, located at 64 Pleasant Street in Watertown. The exhibition will run through Dec. 28 and is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
