Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Watertown

Violent storms could blow through town today. The watch ends at 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Southern New England, including Watertown. 

The watch runs until 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Thunderstorms are expected to form between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and will become more numerous through the afternoon, according to the NWS statement.

The storms may have strong winds, heavy downpours and large hail is possible, according to the NWS. Some areas may be at risk for flash flooding, with as much as 2 to 3 inches of rainfall in a few locations.
