Watertown Makerspace in the Works. We need your help!

The Watertown Free Public Library is seeking a volunteer to help with the development  and oversight of volunteer staff for our makerspace project.

The Makerspace is an ongoing project that began last spring. A makerspace is a dedicated space where community members may go to create anything from basic carpentry projects to tech projects like 3D printing. This space has equipment, tools, and materials in various formats with which users are free to experiment. We hope to have a makerspace that has both “open studio” time in which users can work on self directed projects as well as instructed classes taught by local makers or other experts.

In some ways the library already is a makerspace; we have many “maker programs” in-house, most recently a four week series focusing on 3D printing, but we have been presented with the opportunity to create a dedicated makerspace in one of the vacant spaces in the Arsenal Project.
