Five Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 29

Senate candidate comes to town, Charitable Ad Hoc Committee and live jazz.

  1. The post-Irene forecast looks good – sunny with a high of 79, according to the National Weather Serivce.
  2. Democratic Senate candidate Tom Conroy will be in Watertown this morning. He will visit the from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. as part of his 600 mile walk across Massachusetts.
  3. tonight at 6 p.m. to discuss applications for grants. The meeting will be at Town Hall.
  4. Seniors looking to keep active can go to the Watertown Senior Center for the class. The program includes muscle strengthening, light stretching, and low impact aerobics, and is focused on the needs of seniors in a fun and safe environment. The class runs from 11 a.m. to noon, and costs $3 per class.
  5. Local musicians will perform , 47 Main St., tonight from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There is no cover charge and reservations are not needed.
