Brownsberger Lands Endorsment from Watertown Officials

Town Councilors and a School Committee member threw their support for the Congressional candidate from Belmont.

Seven of the nine Watertown Town Councilors have endorsed State Sen. Will Brownsberger in his run for Congress.

Tow officials endorsing Brownsberger include Town Council President Mark Sideris, Town Council Vice President Steve Corbett, and Town Councilors Susan Falkoff, Tony Palomba, Cecilia Lenk, Vinnie Piccirilli and Ken Woodland. He also got the endorsement of School Committee Vice Chairman John Portz, according to an announcement from the Brownsberger campaign.

“I’ve endorsed Will because he is conscientious, thoughtful, and examines the tough problems our society faces more seriously than any other public official I know,” Palomba said. “Will looks at each issue in depth, considering all the consequences and implications of any action before deciding on his position. He also makes transparency about his positions a priority - which is important to representing his constituents well.”

Falkoff said she admires his working relationship with the Town Council.

“As a state senator, Will has been highly effective in working with town government and representing our concerns in the state legislature,” Falkoff said. “He is accessible, determined, a terrific senator, and will fight for the things we care about in Washington.”

While Brownsberger lives in Belmont, he said he has a special relationship with Watertown because he grew up in town.

The primary in the Special Election for the 5th Congressional District will be held Oct. 15.
