See Who Won the Congressional Straw Poll at the Faire on the Square

Voters had plenty of choices in the Democratic straw poll for the special Congressional election.

Will Brownsberger came out on top of the straw poll held by the Watertown Democrats at the Faire on the Square.

Brownsberger took 34 percent of the votes cast, with Medford State Rep. Carl Sciortino coming in a close second at 31 percent. Only four votes separated the two candidates, according to the Watertown Democratic Town Committee.

"The one thing we heard consistently was that people were very impressed by the quality of the field,” said Steve Owens, chair of the Democratic Town Committee. “A lot of voters we talked to were having trouble deciding between all of the great candidates."

Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian got the third most votes with 21 percent, followed by Melrose State Senator Katherine Clark with 8 percent and Ashland State Senator Karen Spilka with 6 percent. Full results are available on the Town Committee's Facebook page: www.facebook.com/watertowndems.

The special primary will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15.
