Watertown's Warren Tolman Eyes Statewide Office

The former state senator joined the race for Attorney General.

Former state Sen. Warren Tolman announced Thursday he will be running for Attorney General.

He will be the third Democrat in the race for the office currently held by Martha Coakley. Others who have announced their candidacy are State Rep. Harold Naughton of Clinton and Maura Healey, a former top deputy to Coakley, according to an Associated Press report in the Boston Globe.

Warren has run for statewide office before. He was the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in 1998 and ran for governor in 2002.

He currently works as an attorney with the Boston law firm of Holland & Knight. He told the Associated Press that he would focus on a range of issues including civil rights, consumer and business protections, and pocketbook issues like the soaring costs of college tuition.
