African American Heritage Trail Walking Tour

Among those now buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery are authors, journalists, jurists, lawyers, politicians, musicians, athletes, entrepreneurs, activists, and reformers who were key representatives of the African American experience in Boston and beyond during the 19th and 20th centuries. Last year the Friends of Mount Auburn launched an interpretive trail in the form of a booklet and mobile app to celebrate the lives and legacies of seventeen individuals significant in telling this story. Join Volunteer Docent Steve Pinkerton for a guided tour of the graves of these extraordinary men and women in celebration of the birth of former Boston resident Martin Luther King.
