Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist Stephen Kurkjian to Speak at Mount Auburn Hospital Auxiliary Event in Watertown on October 16th

Mount Auburn Hospital's Auxiliary will feature acclaimed journalist Stephen Kurkjian at their Annual Meeting and Luncheon. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:30am at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown, MA.

Stephen Kurkjian is a renowned journalist and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner who spent 38 years as a reporter and editor at the Boston Globe. He is also the recipient of more than 25 other regional and national reporting awards, including the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award from the New England Society of Professional Journalists. Kurkjian will speak about his career in general, including the Gardner heist, which he is currently writing a book on. He will also have a Q&A with the audience.

"Throughout his distinguished career, Stephen Kurkjian has had his fingers to the pulse of the most significant issues of our time, both at home and abroad. The Auxiliary looks forward to hearing him speak his experiences as a journalist and especially about his coverage of the still unsolves Gardner Museum heist, a topic on which he is considered to be the foremost authority," said Donna Smerlas, Mount Auburn Hospital Auxiliary President and Watertown resident.

The Annual Meeting and Luncheon is an initiative by the Auxiliary to host a social gathering for the community, and to also host a business meeting to plan for 2014 and elect officers, directors, and nominating committee. The event is open to the public and the luncheon and speaking will begin at noon.

The proposed slate of officers and directors for the meeting include Beth Marshall, of Lexington, as Vice President, Janet Maguire, of Belmont, as Secretary, Theresa DiLando, of Cambridge, as Treasurer, and Ruth Pratt, of Lexington, Maryann Scali, of Belmonth, ADrianne Faggas, of Watertown, and Deborah Spearman, of Cambridge as Directors.

Advance ticket purchase and RSVP is required. Tickets are $38 and are a tax deductible donation to the Mount Auburn Hospital Auxiliary.
