Showing of film Education Under Fire, profiling the plight of Baha'is in Iran

The Watertown / Belmont chapter of Amnesty International is showing the
film Education Under Fire, which
profiles the plight of Baha’is in Iran who have been prohibited from
seeking higher education. Despite the imprisonment of professors and
administrators for simply trying to teach, the semi-underground Baha’i
Institute for Higher Education offers the only chance for university-level
education.  Baha’is are subjected to systematic
persecution, including arrests, torture, and execution, simply for refusing to
recant their beliefs. He film will be followed by a discussion with Moderator
Tim Wood, a member of the Baha’i community, and Nikan Milani and Mojdeh Rohani,
who will offer first hand accounts.  Elise
Auerbach, Iran Specialist for Amnesty International, says it is “One of the
most powerful human documentaries I have ever seen.”
