Eliza Dushku to be Honored for Making Girls' Summer Camp Dreams Come True

The Watertown native created a program at Camp Hale for girls.

Hollywood star Eliza Dushku is allowing girls to do something that she only dreamed of when she was a girl growing up in Watertown.

She used to watch her brothers go up to Camp Hale in New Hampshire and she could only go on special visiting days because the camp was only for boys. Two years ago, Dushku started a program for girls at the camp, according to a piece in the Boston Herald.

She worked as a councilor and she got to go with her niece Sophia. She will be honored for her commitment to the summer camp on Friday when she receives an award from The American Camp Association, New England. The event will be at Fenway Park. Click here for more information.
