Longtime Watertown Cab Driver Remembered

Mike Prespolis, who drove taxis in town for many years, passed away Feb. 1.

Mike Prespolis, a longtime cab driver in Watertown, died Feb. 1 at the age of 54.

Over the years, the Watertown resident, known as "Big Mike" and "Mikey P.," drove for both and Taxi, which he worked with most recently.

Moe Taha owner of Watertown Taxi, said that Prespolis was a great guy to work with.

“He was just a person who would do anything for you,” Taha said. “He’s been in taxi business for a long time, mostly in Watertown.”

Taha first met Prespolis in the mid-1990s. His death came as a shock to those at Watertown Taxi, Taha said.

“At the beginning I didn’t believe it, of course,” Taha said. “He was healthy, he had no medical problems.”

He will be missed around Watertown, Taha said.

“Generally, he was just a wonderful guy who did a lot for the community and his family,” Taha said.

Prespolis is survived by his wife Lori (Ricci) Prespolis; children Addie and Elsie; and his siblings John, Carol Nakahara, Janet Buchino, Paula Couture, Francis and Helen Botelho.

Funeral services will be handled by at the , 373 Main St. in Watertown.
