40 Years in Watertown...

To celebrate 40 years in Watertown: A FREE 1-month subscription to any Watertown resident to learn French, Spanish, German, or Italian with gamesforlanguage.com.

This year it'll be 40 years that I arrived in Watertown to visit a friend I knew from Switzerland. And they've been good years! Except for the time in Cambridge, where I met my future wife, and two years in Poughkeepsie, where she taught at Vassar College and I studied at Columbia University, we have lived in the same house in Watertown.

A brief attempt by me to move further west for a larger yard (where I could store a boat) was quickly nixed by my wife and by our two sons. They loved our neighborhood and being close to a bus line with easy access to Cambridge and Boston.

For 30 years I commuted to downtown Boston mostly by bus and subway, until my partners and I finally moved our offices to Lexington in 2000 for the last five years of my professional life.

Retirement has opened new areas of learning and activity: My wife and I started a home-based business: www.gamesforlanguage.com, an online language learning site, that currently teaches German, French, Italian and Spanish by using games and a travel story.

And as Watertown has been good to us and to celebrate my 40 years here, we'll offer a free 1-month subscription to any Watertown resident. Just register, start playing the 2 free lessons of your language and drop me a line at peter@gamesforlanguage.com. I'll then give you free access to the full 36 lesson course!
