"La Paloma" - a song for the ages...

Last year we published a post on our website La Paloma - Learning Spanish with a Song. It has been by far our most popular post and we really don't know why.
Learning a language with a song is certainly a great way to memorize words and expressions. And while many may have heard a "La Paloma" version even in their own language, few will know the origin of that song.
As our post explains , “La Paloma (meaning “the dove”) was composed and written by the Basq/Spanish composer Sebastián Iradier (later Yradier) after he visited Cuba in 1861. (You can read in this Wikipedia entry that the motif of “La Paloma” dates back to an episode that occurred in 492 BC!)
If both the history and the original text interest you, click on the above link with the YouTube video of Victoria des Los Angeles' beautiful rendition of the song.
