Bike Thief Strikes Twice in Watertown

Lock up you bikes - a thief or thieves has been taking bicycles from outside Watertown homes.

Two bikes went missing recently after owners left them unlocked on their porches, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.

The first was a silver Raleigh hybrid bicycle that was taken from a porch on Palfrey Street. It was reported missing on July 11, Grady said. The bike was worth about $300.

The same day, police received a report of a stolen bicycle on Franklin Street. The 2009 Motobecane model 700 mountain bike was taken from a porch, Grady said. The bicycle is worth $600 and has a large spring under the seat, Grady said.

Police are investigating the thefts.
