UPDATED: Brighton Man Dies After Accident in Watertown Early Friday

A car ran off of Nonantum Road and struck a tree.

A 22-year-old Brighton man died after his car struck a tree on Nonantum Road in Watertown early Friday morning.

The victim was identified Friday afternoon by Massachusetts State Police as Timothy R. Young, 22, of Brighton.

Troopers from the State Police Barracks in Brighton responded to a motor vehicle that had gone off the road and crashed into a tree at 2:05 a.m. on Friday, according to a State Police press release.

Watertown Police, the Watertown Fire Department and EMS personnel responded to the accident. The driver - the only person in the vehicle - to Beth Israel Hospital, and died later from injuries suffered in the accident, according to State Police.

The accident is under investigation by State Police, and speed may have played a factor in the accident, according to the release. Nonatnum Road was closed at Water Street for about 2.5 hours Friday.
