Police spotted a couple panhandling in the parking lot of the Arsenal Mall and then saw one of them breaking into a car.

On June 26 at 1:47 p.m., a man and woman were seen approaching customers coming out of Home Depot and asking for money, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. They were later identified as Jodi Papadonis and Jonathan Snyder.

“Papodonis entered a motor vehicle left unattended in the parking lot, and took a Burberry umbrella worth $325,” Grady said.

Police then confronted the pair and placed them under arrest. Officers discovered Papadonis also had drugs on her and items taken from Marshalls and other stores in the mall, Grady said.
