Lynn Man Arrested after Nearly Hitting Watetown Police Officer with His Car

The man was spotted speeding down Main Street.

A Lynn man faces several charges after speeding down Main Street and nearly striking a Watertown Police officer who was standing on the street near Watertown Square.

The officer spotted a car traveling down Main Street going an estimated 55 to 60 miles per hour on Sept. 10, at 12:32 a.m., said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"The officer was on the street and the car swerved toward the officer, who was forced to jump out of the way," Lawn said.

The officer caught up with the car and pulled over the car at Main and Pleasant Streets. He discovered the driver did had a suspended licence and after searching the car police found a license plate reported missing from Salem in August, Lawn said.

Michael P. Maramaldi, 28, of 45 Harmon St. in Lynn, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating to endanger, speeding and receiving stolen property.
