Man Busted at Watertown Bank

Watertown Police arrested a man for trying to cash a stolen check.

A resident told police he suspected his son was cashing the checks, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

“He believes his son broke into his residence and stole them,” Lawn said.

One July 3 at 1:30 p.m., police were alerted by Watertown Savings Bank at 739 Main Street, that someone was attempting to cash a check.

“The suspect admitted to making checks out to (himself),” Lawn said.

Police also discovered the man had taken some jewelry and camping equipment, Lawn said.

Michael Genereux, 33, of 171 Fayette St., was arrested on charges of breaking and entering, five counts of uttering a false check, five counts of check forgery, three counts of larceny under $250 and three counts of larceny over $250.
