Man Nabbed Breaking Into Cars at the Watertown Mall

The man is suspected in a string of break-ins at the mall.

A Watertown man faces multiple charges after being caught allegedly breaking into cars in the parking lot at the Watertown Mall.

Target security was on the lookout for someone breaking into cars after numerous reports over the past two weeks, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

Security spotted the suspect walking between aisles in the parking lot trying vehicle doors, Lawn said.

"He entered a grey vehicle on the Elm Street side of the parking lot and he appeared to rummaging through the glove box," Lawn said.

The man was arrested and police found numerous other items which they believe were taken in previous break-ins, Lawn said.

Georges P. El-Helou, 27, of 41 Chapman St. in Watertown, was arrested on one count of breaking and entering and eight counts of receiving stolen property, Lawn said.
