Peeper Caught in Watertown with Help of Police Dog

A police dog from Arlington helped track down the suspect on the former GSA property.

Watertown Police got an assist from a police dog from Arlington while arresting a man allegedly trying to take photos up a woman’s skirt.

Police received the call on July 7 at 3 p.m., said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

“Officers spoke with a mother and daughter, and while shopping at Target the daughter looked down and observed a Hispanic male trying to take a picture up her skirt with a cell phone,” Lawn said. “They demanded that the man give them the phone, but he fled.”

The man was spotted running toward Brighton on Arsenal Street and was seen near the former GSA property near Greenough Boulevard. Police saw him and when they yelled for him to stop the man jumped the fence into the GSA property.

Officers cordoned off the area and called for a search dog from Arlington.

“Officers found the suspect and ordered him to stop,” Lawn said. “The suspect took off and police released the K-9, and the K-9 was able to subdue the suspect.”

Geraldo Gomes De Assis, 44, of 142 Irving St. in Everett, was arrested on charges of accosting a person of the opposite sex, disorderly conduct and trespassing.
