Police Catch Man Who Robbed Woman in Parking Lot at Watertown Stop & Shop

The suspect was arrested on a warrant and was also charged with unarmed robbery.

Police arrested a Watertown man for robbing a woman in the parking lot of the Stop & Shop on Watertown Street.

The man allegedly grabbed a woman's purse from her car at about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26. The woman chased the man and grabbed the purse but the suspect would not let go, and even dragged the woman through the parking lot in an effort to get the purse.

The man got away, but Watertown Police discovered the man they suspected of the crime was wanted on an arrest warrant, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. On Friday, Dec. 27 officers served the warrant on the man at a home on Quimby Street.

They also charged the man for the incident at Stop & Shop as well as possession heroin, Grady said.

Paul M. Mullen, 22, of 36 Laurel St. in Watertown, was charged with unarmed robbery, assault and battery, possession of a Class A drug, and the warrant for larceny over $250 by check, Grady said.
