Police Finish Reservoir Search for Missing Boston College Student; Family Presses On

Two Massachusetts State Police boats hit the water today at the Chestnut Hill Reservoir looking for any clues related to missing Boston College student Franco Garcia. 

, police say they still have not found any clues related to Garcia's disappearance.

According to State Police Spokesman David Procopio, today is the last day State Police crews search the reservoir near the BC campus.

After today, Procopio said police will be following a couple of leads in the investigation. He could not give specific details on those leads, but that they are "traditional investigative leads."

"We sincerely hope that we will be able to find him," Procopio said.

 He was last seen at Mary Ann's bar in Cleveland Circle, Brighton. around 12:18 a.m. and possibly heading north on Chestnut Hill Avenue.

Police have not ruled out foul play, Procopio said. 

Week-long police search

Procopio said two boats were brought in Friday to search the reservoir - one was used to pull divers under the water and another was used for a side-sonar scanner, which takes images of the bottom of the reservoir. 

Police started searching the reservoir area on Sunday using the State Police helicopter. On Monday, police came in and started using the side-sonar scanner and divers were also towed behind the boat to search the water. 

Aside from the reservoir search, Procopio said troopers have brought search dogs through multiple Boston College buildings and the school's parking garage. The dogs have also searched nearby abandoned buildings, including the old Circle Theatre. 

Earlier this week, , which is next to the reservoir. Dogs also sniffed out the MBTA train tracks that run near the reservoir, all with negative results. 

Procopio said police have also searched the Garcia's West Newton home as well as Garcia's car, which was left on the Boston College campus. No clues or evidence were found, he said. 

Family efforts

According to Garcia's mother, Luzmila, a private investigator has offered his services to the family to help with the search for Franco. However, Luzmila said that she is not sure yet whether the family will move forward with hiring the investigator.

"I just want to see my son again," Luzmila said. 

Garcia's mother said the family is also considering hiring a separate search dog to help look for her son. 

If the family does move forward with hiring a private investigator, Procopio said police will work with the investigator and provide the information they have gathered so far. 

"We welcome any private help," Procopio said.

Yesterday, with their search. As of 4 p.m. Friday, more than $1,200 has been donated. 

Tonight, , which is located at the corner of Beacon Street and Chestnut Hill Avenue, next to the reservoir.
