Police Found More than Just Merchandise When Searching a Shoplifting Suspect

A man caught shoplifting at Target faces a multitude of charges.

Police went to Target to deal with a man caught shoplifting, but found much more than just stolen merchandise when they searched him.

Police were called to the store in the Watertown Mall on Nov. 30 at 2:47 p.m. The suspect, identified as Barkev Momjian of Waltham, was seen taking flash drives and cables from the electronics section at Target, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. The items were worth more than $300.

"When officers searched him they found other items and he began to resisting officers and refused to be handcuffed," Lawn said. "During booking, (officers) found different quantities of heroin, cocaine and pills."

Barkev Momjian, 24 of 220 Main St. in Waltham, was arrested on charges of larceny over $250, resisting arrest, possession of a Class E drug, possession of a Class A drug and possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, Lawn said.
