Police Searched Watertown HS, Students Sent Home Early, After Ammo Found

Watertown Police put the high school under lockdown while they conduct a search after a single round of ammunition was found in a classroom this morning.

Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn said police searched the school, and then did controlled release of students after the search is complete. The bullet was found during the first period this morning, Lawn said.

No other ammunition was found during the search, according to a statement from Superintendent Jean Fitzgerald.

Students were stuck in the same classroom for about five hours, and got released to go home at 1 p.m. After school activities were held as scheduled, Fitzgerald said.

This is the second time this month that the high school has been locked down. On Dec. 5 the school was evacuated after a threatening letter was found.
