Report: Body In Charles was Chained to Cinder Block

The District Attorney office said there was no identification on the body and won't confirm any details.

The body found in the Charles River this moring was bound and chained to a cinder block, according to the Boston Globe. The Globe cited the revelation to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation.

The District Attorney Dan Conley's office, however, is not yet willing to confirm any details.

"It is far too early to make a determination as to manner of death, and reports indicating that the individual was the victim of a homicide are premature, " wrote office spokesman Jake Wark in an email update. "Likewise, we do not release details on evidence at the scene in the early stages of any death investigation. When it’s appropriate to release further information, we will do so."

Boston University graduate student Jonathan Daily has been missing since last Tuesday. Daily's parents have offered a $5,000 reward for any information leading to their son's whereabouts.

The body was the second found dead in the river in as many days. In Monday's case, the body of an adult male was found by Boston University sailing pavilion employees. Wark said in a Monday release that the first body found was not Daily.
