Shoplifter Pulls Pair of Scissors on Store Manager at Watertown's Arsenal Mall

The store manager chased the suspect out of the store, and as he pursued the suspect he was threatened with the scissors.

A suspected shoplifter pulled a pair of scissors on a store manager who chased him out of the store after he allegedly stole jewelry from the Almoda Jewelers store in the Arsenal Mall.

Watertown Police responded to the mall at 6:28 p.m. on Nov. 25 when the store manager of Almoda called after being threatened by the shoplifter, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"A man came into store and looked at sterling silver rings in store," Lawn said. "The manager recognized the man form prior shoplifting incidents in the store."

As the suspect looked at the rings, he asked to see something in another part of the store, Lawn said, and when the manager went to the other case the suspect allegedly grabbed five rings and tried to leave the store.

"The manager went after him and grabbed his coat. The coat came off, and the suspect began running toward the riverside side of the mall," Lawn said. "The manager ran after him, and the suspect turned and pulled a pair of scissors out of his pocket and lunged at him."

The suspect got away, but is described as a white male, age 55-60 with salt-and-pepper hair, a mustache, and wore a hat, Lawn said. He is 5-foot-7 and weighs approximately 180 pounds. Police are investigating.
